September 2026

In the month of September, we joyfully set out to carve our new rhythm within the Heorð program. The children discovered the many wonders of our forest kindergarten and were busy creating homes for gnomes and fairies within the tree trunks that surround our outdoor area. We gathered snug around our outdoor table and enjoyed delicious homemade meals together.  We heard stories and details of the children’s lives and of all the many furry friends that live at home.  In our 3 day class we prepared window transparencies as a way to honor the change in seasons. Over the course of a few days we painted, oiled, and decorated our indoor classroom with apples, pears, plums and leaves. In our 2 day class all of the children separated from their parents and have begun to learn new social skills within our classroom.  We celebrated our first festival of the year, Michaelmas!  We transformed silks into beautiful warm hues of golden yellow with onion skin dye,  made dragon bread together, enjoyed Ms. Emily’s famous popcorn and heard a new puppet show about a little mouse that receives a golden cape from the starry skies.
“I give you this cape of gold, for you are strong, courageous, and bold!” Each child received the golden silks they prepared with the same message given to each of them.

We are filled with gratitude to be able to spend our autumn days together in this way.

Warmly,
Your Heorð teachers,
Ms. Mayra, Ms. Emily, and Ms. Bonnie
